Hodgepodge
First. A filling fell out today. On a Thursday. Most dentists are closed on Fridays. No, really. That wouldn’t be so bad, except Friday is my last day at Thomson. I start the new job on Monday, and there’s a 30-day wait until insurance kicks in. I bought some Orajel or something to get me through the next month.
Second. I got a few iTunes gift cards. So I’ve got about 3 albums I can pick up. Already decided on one (CKY’s latest — shut up, I like them). I think another one should be one of A Perfect Circle’s. Which one would you all recommend? I have their first. I don’t have Thirteenth Step or their newer one(s). I’m only getting one for now, and I’m leaning towards 13. And any suggestions on what I should pick up for album #3? I’m thinking Hendrix, for some reason. Or maybe I’ll just pick up a bunch of random Beck singles strewn across iTunes.
Third. Alex sent me this. Made me laugh.

What’s wrong with CKY?
Go with Thirteen Steps — a great album from beginning to end. In my humble opinion, eMOTIVe has only one solid cut on it: “Passive”. Maynard was trying to make a political statement about the ’04 presidential elections with the song selection (all but 2 are covers,) and they rushed it to get it out in November.
I was in Walgreen’s the other day, and saw a temporary tooth filling you can get if the Orajel isn’t cutting it. A little pricey, but well worth it, if it prevents pain.

Hey, there’s nothing wrong with CKY, dammit.
Advice well taken. Like I said, I’m definitely leaning towards Thirteen Steps.
Depending on how thing work out, I may try the walgreen’s solution. The problem is that it is a frontal tooth — namely, my front tooth on my right. Not sure how that solution will work out. At a certain angle, it looks bad, and I don’t want to have the equivalent of a toupee on my tooth. Then again, if I feel no pain (not much yet) it’s all vanity anyway.

By the way; Who are you, Culichi? Woodstock.nmsu.edu. You gotta be someone I know.

Rich – you’re old supervisor. Don’t block me!

Rich! Yup, woodstock.nmsu.edu rang a bell.

That temporary filling stuff works great if you don’t chew on it, drink any liquids or plan on moving you mouth very much. But oragel can be great fun, just don’t see what happens if you put some . Um…yeah. Unless it hurts, I’d just leave it alone and make sure to keep it super clean.
Hey, now that I have an ipod I’ll ask (anyone who makes fun of me gets poked in the eye with a stick): What’s a pod-cast and how do I work one/them/it?

A podcast is like a radio show, only you can listen to it whenever you want.
I don’t know if you have a broadband connection yet, but you’ll want one if you plan to download a lot of podcasts. They can get pretty big.
The easiest way to get started listening to them is to install iTunes (you’ve got an iPod, so you probably have already installed it). Click on “Podcasts” on the left then click “Podcast Directory” on the bottom. Then just dig around until you find one that looks interesting. I guess a lot of people start out listening to NPR stuff, but the good ones are usually created by regular people. I think “Distorted View” might crack you up. Just make sure the first DV episode you listen to is not a Tuesday show. You’ll understand why later.
Oh, and there’s a little podcast called “Wrestle that Shark” that I highly recommend.

Thanks!
um…Are they free?

Yup.

Go with “Thirteen Steps.” It is brilliant. I’ve also been enjoying “Modest Mouse” which you might enjoy. I’ve been listening to “The Moon and Antarctica.” Did you ever pick up “Sonic Nurse?”
January 6th, 2006 at 2:10 pm
Yes, I did.
Yup, I’ve got The Moon and Antarctica. Been a while since I listened to it.
And yeah, I think I’m going for Thirteen Steps. Enough people have recommended it.

You can never go wrong with some Jimi, especially if you don’t have any of his work already.
