Spam sucks
I’ve installed a plugin to require that a code be typed in when submitting a comment. I am getting way too much comment spam. None of it gets through (because I have to approve them for them to show up), but the crap is cluttering my inbox.
Sorry. I know it sucks. I hate having to type that crap too. But the spammer douchebags won’t let up.
If email spam sucks, comment spam is very nearly theft or vandalism. The only ads I have on my page are google ads, which (in theory) I’m compensated for. These comment spam idiots are doing the equivalent of spray-painting casino ads on private homes.
Anyway, if you run into a problem with the authentication, email me and I’ll figure something out.

No way, dude. Comment spam is the worst and if it is worth commenting in the blog it is worth typing in the code.

I wholeheartedly agree. I don’t mind typing in the extra words. In fact, what plugin is this? I’ve got an anti-spam plugin already, but a second line of defense would be good.

Hey! Happy Birthday, Joe! Is that two of them in Minnesota now? You’ll be a passive-aggressive, Minnesota nice native soon.

Kurt — It’s called SecureImage.
Scott — Yup, this will be my second one here. I wish there was an easy way to convey passive-aggressive speech through type, just so I could make a joke. Or maybe I just need more practice.
