This Post is So Scattered that No Title Can Do it Justice

I used to know how to properly capitalize titles. I have no idea if I did this one correctly. Damn.

Life’s been interesting.

Either I’m still benefiting from my trip to Las Cruces or I’ve stumbled onto something — my chest hasn’t been bothering me much. But I’ve also cut sunflower seeds out of my diet. I usually eat a lot of them.

Either way, it’s good not to feel (much) chest pain.

Work’s gone a little haywire, for a few reasons, but so far it’s nothing too crazy. Just a *lot* heavier load than normal.

Looks like Flapping Crane may soon be entering another period of frequent skits. Pete and Schloo seem to be raring to go. Just in time, too, since Alex seems to be taking a break.

Speaking of, this vid may soon be on Flapping Crane:

I can’t explain it, but I laugh every time I watch it. I must have watched it 20 times now, and I still laugh.

Let’s see. I may start work on Version 3.0 of the Flapping Crane website. Or 4.0. Hell if I know. It will likely incorporate YUI. It will likely have seriously large videos — new ones will be in a 16:9 ratio. Probably 853×480. Old videos will continue to be shown normally until/unless I replace them. Then I can finally ditch the separate itunes feed.

It will be a lot of work, though. I’m probably going to move to PHP5 and go the DOM route for page creation, which is very, very different from how I’m doing it now. I’ll rely a good deal on YUI as well — I’ll need to familiarize myself with it anyway, so this is a good opportunity. Plus, it will be nice to worry less about cross-browser problems.

I actually seriously considered going almost completely XSLT/XML, but I’m still a sucker for PHP.

I’ve also been playing a lot of Wii. Specifically, Zelda. I go in spurts, though. Usually on weekends.

I’ve run into a weird problem, at least for me. I have too many fun things to do. It’s not as good as it sounds, though I appreciate the irony of this complaint. I have a Wii. I want to finish Zelda and Paper Mario (for n64/virtual console), the game cube Paper Mario and (when I buy it) Super Paper Mario. I still want to finish Xenosaga II. I need to finish at least 6 Virtual Console games. I need to watch my netflix’d Godfather and Raging Bull. I need to watch the Infernal Affairs trilogy that was loaned to me. I need to finish reading Bruce Campbell’s new book. I need to keep up with the tv shows and podcasts I subscribe to in itunes/appletv. In short, entertainment is nearly wearing me out. How insane is that? Never mind that I have skits to edit, a website to work on, and oh yeah, work.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m fully aware that it’s a byproduct of relative luxury (I mean that in the I-don’t-live-in-a-third-world sense). But it is, strangely, its own kind of insane burden. It’s almost stressful.

That yui looks cool. I’ve just started xml/xslt and like it a lot but have trouble finding uses for it as I don’t like to do webdesign on my time and all our systems at work use php/sql open source software (wordpress, phplist, oscommerce, phpdig, dotproject).

Anyway, I look forward to see how you turn your database of movies into xml.

It’s pretty simple, really. That’s what’s happening on the itunes feed. I just use php to get the info out of a database then format it as xml (in this case, rss): http://flappingcrane.com/feed.xml

When I feel blue, I go outside and kiss a pinecone. But then I find out that its just Lenny’s dried up poop.
