Wrestle that Shark

Friday, October 28th, 2005

Wrestle that Shark PodcastFor those of you who don’t know, I’ve started a podcast with Jason Wyatt and Vanessa High. It’s called Wrestle that Shark. It’s about philosophy. The idea is that we each have a beer and have a discussion. When our beer is done, so is the podcast.

We’ve only done two episodes, and we’re having the conversations with a combination of nutty technology. Vanessa’s on Skype, and Jason’s calling me on Skype with his cell phone. So there’s latency, though I can usually edit that down. Aside from that, we’re still getting the hang of the format, so don’t expect anything spectacular yet. Not that it’s easy to make discussions of natural rights spectacular for everyone anyway. :)

You can subscribe to it or download individual episodes at wrestlethatshark.com.

Sick

Thursday, September 22nd, 2005

I have lots to talk about, but I’m coming down with something and don’t really feel up to typing too much. But I haven’t posted anything in a while, so, here I go.

It looks like my podcast setup works. We can have three-way calls. Everything gets recorded. The plan was to do one tonight, but that may have to be postponed if I don’t feel better.

Got into some roaring political arguments over email recently. I’ll have to say something about that at some point.

A new skit is coming up. Again, I’m not feeling well so this one will probably be late. This one will almost definitely get us hate mail. Some of us got a little uncomfortable just watching the raw footage. I know I did. We’ll probably need a disclaimer.

Here it is. The excerpt.

Mentioned on The Starkcast

Tuesday, September 13th, 2005

Heh heh. Neat. I called in and left a voicemail at The Starkcast. Basically, last week some guy called in ranting and raving and blaming conservatives for huricane Katrina or something. I don’t remember exactly what it was, but the guy was off his rocker. The Starkcast’s Jim K is a bit on the right, though he strikes me as a bit of a libertarian, so it’s not a simple matter of right or left. Anyway, I called up and basically said that I’m a liberal and I like his show. I mentioned Flapping Crane as well.

So I downloaded the new episode, and not only did he play my voicemail, but he plugged the Crane. He also played a short clip from Jared Fogle: Unmasked.

I may put the relevant segment up here. In the meantime, if you want to hear it, listen to Episode 18. Warning: there’s lots of profanity, etc. Wear headphones if you’re at work.
